Latissimus Dorsi,or the lats, is a large muscle that begins on the back of your hip, is attached to your spine from your lower back to mid upper back (via a connective tissue band) and then runs over your scapula out onto the front of your arm. It is important to keep it supple because if it is allowed to become overly tight and short, it can cause various postural issues from an internally rotated arm to scoliosis.
